SATERA 2nd Plenary Meeting Held in Rome

On May 26th, 2025, the University of Rome Tor Vergata hosted the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the SATERA project, bringing together all consortium partners and the Advisory Board for a full day of discussion, collaboration, and strategic alignment.

The meeting marked a key milestone in the development of SATERA, a project funded by SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking under the Horizon Europe programme. Its main objective is to advance space-based surveillance technologies for accurate and reliable aircraft tracking, especially over oceanic and remote regions where current systems face significant limitations.

Throughout the day, each Work Package was presented and discussed in depth, covering:

  • Solution formulation and technical architecture.
  • Embedded measurement systems onboard aircraft.
  • Communication network design and resilience.
  • Data processing and fusion algorithms.

As members of the SATERA consortium, the Air Navigation Systems Lab (UPV) actively contributed to the technical discussions, reaffirming our commitment to supporting innovation in global air traffic surveillance.

The presence of the Advisory Board enriched the session with valuable feedback, ensuring that SATERA remains aligned with operational needs and regulatory expectations.

Stay tuned as the project continues to evolve and deliver groundbreaking solutions for future air traffic management.
