SATERA Final Workshop: Exploring the Future of Space-Based Surveillance for Air Traffic Management
19 November 2026 | 15:00–19:00 CET | Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Spain
The SATERA project is pleased to invite researchers, industry professionals, air navigation service providers, regulatory authorities, academics, students and other aviation stakeholders to its Final Workshop, taking place on 19 November 2026 at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
Jointly organised by UPV and ENAIRE, the workshop will provide an opportunity to explore the potential of space-based surveillance technologies to support the evolution of Air Traffic Management (ATM).
The event will bring together representatives from European aviation organisations, industry and research institutions to discuss the challenges and opportunities of space-based surveillance, while presenting the main results and technological developments achieved within SATERA.
What to Expect
The workshop will open with a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities of space-based surveillance, featuring representatives from ENAIRE, Startical, EASA, EUROCAE, SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking and the European Defence Agency (EDA).
Following the panel, researchers from the SATERA consortium will introduce the SATERA solution and present the key enabling technologies investigated throughout the project, including:
- Advanced antenna technologies for space-based surveillance applications.
- Intersatellite communication networks to support satellite-based surveillance architectures.
- Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technologies and their potential applications in ATM.
- Space-based multichannel ADS-B receivers and signal feature extraction for enhanced aircraft surveillance capabilities.
The workshop will conclude with a discussion of the main takeaways and the potential contribution of these technologies to future ATM surveillance systems.
