SNA Lab Shines at ICNS 2025 in Brussels with two Best Paper Awards
The SNA Lab at the ITACA Institute – Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) proudly celebrates the outstanding success of our researchers at the 25th Integrated Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance Conference (iCNS 2025), held in Brussels.
Best Paper Award – Session 6A
Álex Sanchis Marín presented his work “Realistic Trajectory Generation in Simulated Environments for U-space Systems Assessment”, which was recognized as Best Paper of Session 6A. This research, conducted under the CREATE U-Space project (CIAICO/2022/044), funded by the Conselleria de Innovación, Universidades, Ciencia y Sociedad Digital of the Generalitat Valenciana, contributes to the advancement of simulation-based evaluation methods for U-space systems.
Best Paper Award – Session 6D.1
Sandra Amarillo was awarded Best Paper of Session 6D.1 for her contribution “Proposal of UAS Strategic Conflict Detection Concept with a Centralised Service in Multi-USSP Environment Using an Octree Data Structure.” Her work offers a novel approach to conflict detection in complex unmanned traffic environments and was developed within the framework of the SPIRIT-UCS project, funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+), under reference PID2022-141829OB-I00.
Outstanding Presentation
We also commend Denis Andres Maigualema Quimbita for his excellent presentation of the paper “Positioning of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Urban Environments Using 5G Networks: A Hybrid Approach Based on Multilateration and Machine Learning.” His research showcases SNA Lab’s commitment to cutting-edge innovation in UAV navigation and communication systems.
These recognitions underscore the scientific excellence, innovation, and international visibility of the work being carried out at SNA Lab. Congratulations to Álex, Sandra, and Denis for their exceptional contributions and for representing UPV and ITACA at one of the most prestigious conferences in the field of air traffic and unmanned systems management.
